Amy Hornberger
founding director
Amy Hornberger trained and performed at The Harrisburg Academy of Dance under Jo Ellen Hoffman, and at The Harrisburg Dance Conservatory under Richard Hoskinson.
She went on to study, choreograph and perform atGoucherCollegewhere she had the opportunity to study with such greats as Violette Verdy, John Clifford, Steve Koester, Bruce Wells, Carolyn Dorfman, Pat Graney, Trisha Brown, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Madame Yelena Vinogradova, Lesa McLaughlin, Gus Solomons, Jr., Jacques D’Amboise and Christopher D’Amboise. Ms. Hornberger also studied under faculty members Chrystelle Bond, Jane Ward Murray (a former NYC Ballet dancer under George Balanchine), Kathy Ferguson, Laura Dolid, Elizabeth Ahearn, Juliet Forest and Amanda Thom Woodson
Ms. Hornberger earned a B.A. in psychology from Goucher College in 1994, and went on to study at the graduate level, specializing in child psychology. This additional training gave her an in-depth understanding of child physical, cognitive and emotional development, which she used to develop her “ABC’s of Dance” preschool –early elementary school program.
She continues to study dance in New York at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center and the Pulse Teacher workshops. She has had the opportunity to study with “So You Think You Can Dance” choreographers Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Brian Friedman, Cris Judd, Dave Scott, Shane Sparks and Laurie Ann Gibson, master ballet teachers David Howard and Finis Jhung, and hip-hop expert “Ms. Vee.”
Ms. Hornberger has been teaching and performing since 1996 in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area. Her award winning choreography has been performed up and down the East Coast. Her students have been accepted to Baltimore School for the Arts and Carver Center for Arts Technology. Her work with Ballet Petite won “Best of Baltimore 2003.”
She founded Synergy Movement Theatre and School in 2001; in addition to her role as studio director, she designs the sets, scenery and costumes for the performances. The school became Baltimore School of Dance in 2009.

Lina is a mother of two boys who are her world. She is a very kind and loving person who just enjoys helping people in any way that she can. She has a very creative and fun personality and would consider herself a go getter. Some of her hobbies/things she enjoys include painting, arts and crafts (really any way to be artsy and creative), writing, singing, horseback riding, swimming, exploring new places and finding new restaurants to eat at. She also enjoys meeting new people and becoming a positive influence in their lives. She will be your first point of contact here at BSD and can't wait to help you start your amazing dance journey and welcome you to the BSD family!
